My Journey began when I found out I was pregnant with my first child. I knew I had options and wanted to research to find my own path. I gave birth so my son naturally and had an amazing experience. As I saw friends and acquaintances having interventions that they didn’t fully understand something stirred in me. I felt a calling to be part of this process – supporting women through their births with encouragement, information, and guidance. It is a privilege to stand beside so many amazing women during this sacred experience. I am honored that I get to call my role as a doula “work.”
As a doula, my desire is for you to achieve your ideal birth. My role is to help you navigate the experience, by providing emotional and physical support to help you achieve your goals, providing encouragement, helping maintain a peaceful and protected environment, and helping you gain access the information you need to make the best choices for your family.
I have been working as a doula since 2007 and have supported women through a variety of birth experiences, including home birth, vaginal breech, loss, and inductions without the assistance of pain medication. I am trained via The Bradley Method, am certified as a HypnoBabies HypnoDoula, am certified with HypnoBirthing (The Mongan Method), have had several trainings including Spinning Babies and have a special place in my heart for single moms by choice. I most frequently work at Cedars Sinai, Kaiser West LA, and UCLA, but work in hospitals throughout Los Angeles. Additionally, I have given birth naturally to three children of my own, using The Bradley Method and HypnoBabies.
The most important tool a woman has for birthing is her mind. Our beliefs about birth and our ability to birth play into this complicated process so profoundly. During the birth it is so important for the mother emotionally strong. I help the mother do this by creating a peaceful atmosphere, affirming her trust in the process, reminding her of her strength and helping her with comfort measures such as massage, positioning, hypnosis and aromatherapy. If the baby appears to be positioned wrong or if labor slows, I have an arsenal of positions to help move him/her into an ideal position for a better birth. If complications arise, I am there to help you ask the right questions and get the answers you need to make the best decisions for your family. Set up an interview today!
Inviting someone to attend the birth of your child is an important decision. I highly encourage you to meet several doulas and choose the one you connect with best. My services include unlimited telephone or e-mail support throughout your pregnancy, two prenatal appointments, 24-hour on-call availability surrounding your due date, my presence and support during your labor and birth, photography once the baby is born, assistance with initial breastfeeding after the birth, and one post-partum visit. If I am unable to attend your birth due to illness or a conflict with another client in labor, one of my back-up doulas will be able to assist you.

“Remember this, for it is as true and true gets: Your body is not a lemon. You are not a machine. The Creator is not a careless mechanic. Human female bodies have the same potential to give birth well as aardvarks, lions, rhinoceri, elephants, moose, and water buffalo. Even if it has not been your habit throughout your life so far, I recommend that you learn to think positively about your body.” -Ina May Gaskin
